Class Filtering

Class Filtering is an optional feature that allows your students and parents to quickly and easily find classes.  With Studioware Class Filtering, you can specify one or more class filters, such as filtering by location, staff member, or any custom class field.

Class Filtering is useful in a variety of scenarios:

  • Assume that you have multiple locations. For example, a "Main Street" location and a "King Street" location. You could create a filter to only show classes at the "Main Street" location and a second filter to show only classes for the "King Street" location.

Here's an example link that displays a Location filter: Filter classes by Location.

  • For a studio that has multiple teachers, you may want to show a list of classes that are taught by a specific instructor. You could create a class filter for each teacher (and set the class filter invisible).

Here's an example filter that displays all the classes that are taught by "Andy Amana". Also note that these classes are displayed by "Day of Week" instead of an alphabetical list: Show "Andy Amana" classes

  • Studioware allows you to create custom fields for classes. Now you can use those custom fields for online class filtering. For example, you could create a custom field called Student Skill, Age Group, Dance Type, or Martial Arts Belt and then filter by those custom fields.

Here's an example of the filter called "Age Group". Students/Parents can use this filter to easily find classes that are age appropriate for their students: Filter by a custom field "Age Group".

  • You can include as many filters as you need. Filters can be created to have a default value. Filters can als be set to invisible. For example, if you have a filter that has a default value, and is set to invisible, the students/parents will not see the filter or change it's value.

Here's an example of multiple filters. Notive that Location has a default value: Multiple Filters with Default
